It is the season of Geminis: the sign of ‘two different personalities.’ We have seen our members explore their diverging sides these last couple of weeks in line with some amazing events they organized on behalf of AIM.
First, we had the Our Bodies, Our Voice, event, where students and faculty members from across the UvA were invited to participate in an open discussion on ideas for new university-wide sexual harassment policies. The Diversity Committee, Agathe Cherbit-Langer, and Amsterdam United teamed up to develop this evening after noticing a lack of concrete policies from the university. The audience and event speakers together shared ideas on what they believe the UvA needs to implement in order to create a safer and more comfortable community for all UvA students and faculty members.
After this important and groundbreaking evening, our members let loose at the annual Performance Night. We had contemporary dance, stand up comedy, rap battles, and fabulous singers throughout the event. As always, the Performance Night was regarded as one of the best nights of the year as our members saw their fellow classmates break out of their shells and show off their hidden talents.
